Compact combined washing and phosphating machine
The introduction of new legislations regarding the use of solvents has led many companies to look for alternative methods of pre-treating and degreasing components prior to powder coating. J and CR Wood in Hull manufacture a wide range of products including metal fabricated point of sale displays, which they were pre-treating in an open top hot vapour system. They needed to find a more environmentally friendly machine but due to space restrictions also needed a machine which was compact in design and found the solution in Vixen Surface Treatment’s ‘Phoswash’ machine. Ian Wood, Managing Director of J and CR Wood said, “Several factors led us to purchasing the Phoswash machine from Vixen. The machine has a very compact design, was competitively priced with low operating costs and negligible environmental issues and also uses a phosphate solution which gives better results when powder coating.”
The Phoswash machine has been introduced by Vixen to compliment their existing range of degreasing/phosphating machines. The machine is an automatic, operator friendly system with the added benefit of a drying facility which assists the flash drying of the components at the end of the phosphating process. The machine is available in 2 or 3 stages and can be supplied with an optional docking bogey for ease of loading heavier components.
J and C R Wood have had the machine in operation for a while now and are extremely pleased with the results. “The quality of the finish to our components is now much better than with the open vapour system and has reduced our preparation time by more than 50%. We found the degree of assistance from the Vixen team to be of a very high standard and the Phoswash machine seems to fulfil all the promises made”.
