Ebara Pumps and Vixen Collaborate to Achieve Environmental Status

Ebara Pumps and Vixen Collaborate to Achieve Environmental StatusEbara Pumps is a worldwide manufacturer in pumping systems, and Ebara Pumps in Livingston, Scotland is just one of the many service centres across the globe within the group.

The Livingston service centre invested £250,000 in total on 8 Vixen machines. Models chosen from the Vixen range by Ebara were 4 front-loading Jetwash machines and 4 wet blast machines.

At the investment stage Ebara's Service Centre in Scotland had the criteria to replace the old machines with ones that are more environmentally friendly and cost efficient with lower maintenance costs.

Alex Craig, Operations Manager of Ebara Pumps in Livingston, commented that buyers "are very much looking for factors that have impact on the environment for the better".

The main feature that attracted Ebara to Vixen was the interchangeable transfer trolley arrangement. This enabled the dismantled pumps to be placed on a universal trolley and bogey system that interchanged with the wet blast and washing machines.

The ease of transfer for components with minimum operator time was a big advantage.

Alex Craig added that "the Â¼ of a million pound machine investment will payback in less than 5 years on energy costs and maintenance", with the added bonus that the machines bought from Vixen were considerably cheaper than competitor's tenders.

The Japanese head office of Ebara Pumps gives one award per annum throughout its global network based on efficiencies, profitability and cost savings.

Last year Livingston service centre won this global environmental award and were the first branch worldwide to receive it outside of Japan.

The success of the Livingston branch has raised interest in other Ebara Pump Group Service Centres worldwide such as Japan and Texas who have also enquired about the Vixen machine range.

Alex Craig said that he was "proud of the award on the basis that we are the only one from our division that have made profitable improvements last year".
