Recently, the in-house design team at Vixen have had the challenge of keeping up with the reducing machining times and high cleanliness levels for the automotive industry. This machine has been designed to meet the most stringent specifications working alongside the customer to ensure all of the requirements are met to the highest standard.
This bespoke machine has 3 robots internally and 4 wash stages. As this particular operation would consist of loading and unloading using a robot, the design team had to come up with extra measures to ensure the machine is safe. This is one of the reasons why sensors were added to the machine for precautionary measures and to prevent any damage to the loading/unloading robot.
This bespoke machine includes 4 stages. The first stage is the loading bay where the operator/robot can load the unprocessed parts ready to start its journey through the machine.
The part then moves onto the second stage where the robotic arm washes using 2 lances. One lance washes the part at a high pressure of 1000psi and the second lance with a high flow of 70psi! This gives the part a thorough clean using a specific programmed path to get into every nook and cranny, making sure the part is cleaned efficiently. The robotic arm uses maximum precision to blast intricate blind holes and oilways in record time.
This then indexes to the rinse stage. This stage features rotary and still jets to thoroughly rinse the part and ensures no contaminations such as soaps are remaining from the previous wash stage.
After the rinse stage, the part indexes again through to the drying chamber. This stage has not one, but two Robotic arms that blow off any excess water from the part including blind holes, which are difficult to air dry, using the multiple blower heads featured on each arm.
The journey of the part then ends where it began, at the loading/unloading bay; it is then ready to be replaced with another unprocessed part to start the process all over again…
The main feature of this machine is that the loading to unloading of the part takes less than 1 minute!
